CMTA FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

The Certified Medical Travel Agent certification is unique because it is the only training program that provides students with a comprehensive overview of how to launch, operate, and expand a medical tourism agency from the ground up. Each course module has been carefully designed to support individuals and companies who coordinate medical trips for patients.

We are delighted to offer students a thorough insight into the everyday duties, opportunities, and challenges of working in medical tourism. Having worked with thousands of international patient coordinators over the years, we have a deep understanding of what your company needs to flourish from the outset.

Your Certification is 100% Risk-Free

Every resource in your certification is designed to give you the knowledge and skills needed to start a successful medical travel agency from scratch. If you complete the program and haven't achieved the results you want, we'll work with you until you get the results you want.

Who is the CMTA designed for?

The CMTA is built for three groups: individuals looking to launch a medical tourism facilitation business, existing facilitators who want to formalize their credentials and strengthen their professional standing, and travel and hospitality professionals adding medical tourism services to their existing business.

Do I need prior experience in medical tourism to enroll?

No. The CMTA was designed for individuals at every level, including complete beginners. The program walks you through everything you need to know to launch and operate a medical tourism agency from the ground up.

Is the certification offered online or in person?

The CMTA is offered entirely online and can be accessed from any location at any time. There is no in-person or live component — you learn completely at your own pace.

How long does it take to complete?

The certification is self-paced with 12+ hours of training. Most people complete it within a few weeks, although some finish sooner depending on their schedule.

How is the certification presented?

The CMTA combines video training, written content, graphics, charts, and infographics to communicate information in a variety of formats. All materials and resources are integrated directly into the online platform.

Is there a workbook included?

Yes. A digital interactive workbook is included and integrated directly into the certification platform.

What languages is the certification available in?

The CMTA is available in English. The program was developed with an international audience in mind, and the content is presented in clear, straightforward language so that professionals who do not speak English as a first language can follow along without difficulty.

What do I receive when I complete the certification?

You receive an official CMTA Certificate of Completion and a digital seal you can display on your website, LinkedIn profile, and marketing materials.

What score do I need to pass?

A minimum score of 75% is required to pass the final exam and receive your CMTA certification. The exam is multiple-choice and is based entirely on the content covered throughout the program, including the practice quizzes at the end of each chapter. As long as you complete the practice quizzes as you go through the program, you should have no difficulty passing the final exam.

Can I retake the exam if I am not satisfied with my score?

Yes. If you are not satisfied with your score on the first attempt, you are welcome to retake the exam at no additional cost. The program is designed to be easy to follow, and completing the practice quizzes after each chapter is the best preparation for the final exam.

How and when will I receive my exam results?

As you complete each question you will be shown whether your answer was correct or incorrect. Upon completing the final exam you will receive your final score immediately.

How long is the CMTA certification valid?

The CMTA certification is valid for two years with an annual continuing education subscription fee of $75, which includes access to 5 hours of continuing education to keep your credential current.

What is the refund policy?

Due to the immediate access nature of the program, we do not offer refunds. However, if you do not pass the final exam on your first attempt, you are welcome to retake it after a review period at no additional cost.

Can I upgrade to an annual membership after completing the certification?

Higher tier memberships also include patient leads, consulting, and a custom website. If you are ready to launch your agency, an annual membership gives you everything you need to get started.

What if I struggle to get patients after completing the certification?

The CMTA gives you the knowledge and credentials to operate professionally. For those who want additional support, our annual memberships include patient leads, one-on-one coaching, clinic introductions, and consulting to help you build and grow your agency.

What if I am not ready for the full certification?

We offer a Starter Course for individuals who want an introduction to the medical tourism industry before committing to the full certification.

Yes. Our team is available to answer questions throughout your certification process. Higher-tier memberships include one-on-one consulting and coaching beyond the certification itself.
